Appleton solar’s story
Appleton Solar began as a home solar project in 2008 for founders Ingrid & Patrick Nahm. After 17 years, Appleton Solar has grown into the Fox Valley’s trusted company for solar electric systems.

While working corporate jobs in manufacturing, Patrick and Ingrid’s engineering and science background led them to research and appreciate the technical and rewarding aspects of solar energy. With a home roof ideally oriented for solar, their desire to make this dream a reality was born.
They both received technical training at the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and nationally at manufacturers’ training programs. Patrick’s engineering background allowed him to pursue further electrical training and eventually gain his master electrician’s license. With the foundation constructed, and their home now powered by the sun, they were ready to start spreading the word that Solar Works in Wisconsin.
Both Patrick and Ingrid’s technical background provide a solid foundation for their solar expertise. Patrick handles design and installation with a fantastic crew. Ingrid works with onboarding customers to educate and explain the nuances, incentives and opportunities solar can provide.
Together Patrick, Ingrid, and their team are locally-known for providing great solar, storage, EV charging solutions, and a reassuring customer experience in Wisconsin’s Fox Valley. Appleton Solar does their small part to make our planet a better place by creating homes, businesses, and vehicles that are Powered by the Sun.
Solar Tour
Over the first weekend of October, the American Solar Energy Society sponsors the National Solar Tour. This SELF-GUIDED event is FREE and open to the public. Nationally, homeowners, businesses and municipalities that are harnessing solar energy volunteer their locations for people to visit and learn about solar energy. This is a true community event as neighbors stop by to talk with neighbors about how solar is working for them.
Appleton Solar’s customers are proud to show their solar energy systems. With over 450 Appleton Solar installations operating in Northeast Wisconsin, there may be a site near you that will be on the tour.
Many of the tour homes are reducing their utility electricity consumption by over 50%. Some homes have other forms of sustainable technologies (water conservation, solar hot water, solar lighting, wood hot water heat, battery backup, and electric vehicle charging.)

Incentives
Cash Rewards and Federal Tax Credits are available for residential or commercial renewable energy projects.
Cash rewards in Wisconsin are funded through Focus on Energy and will vary in amount based on the type of project and if funding is available. Appleton Solar will assist with reserving Focus on Energy rewards at the start of the project and submitting the project paperwork after the project is complete. Cash rewards go directly to the customer. Appleton Solar is a Focus on Energy Trade Ally.
Federal tax credits should be researched with the assistance of a tax professional. Tax credit values and how the credits can be applied to residential and commercial tax situations will vary. Additional details can be found on our Costs and Incentives page.
